"When I started school at St. John, there
were two classrooms with Grades 1 - 4 in one room and 5 - 8 in the other
room. The building also had a basement and a gym upstairs. There were 4
students in my first grade class. Mr V Schachtsick was our teacher.
Later, they added a classroom in the basement for the 1st and 2nd grades
and the classroom I had been in was for Grade 3 - Grade 5, so I had Mr.
V. Schachtsick until I went to the 6th - 8th classroom. Mr. Wukasch was
the teacher. When I graduated, there were 8 students in my
class. I am the only student from my class who is still a member of St.
John, two are deceased and the rest have moved away." |

"I remember cheerleading and going to
Zion and different schools to cheer on the Eagles!
I also remember my fourth grade show and tell with Mrs. Johnson. I got
to bring in my dog Benson. He is still alive. but is 9 years old now!" |

I remember going through
Confirmation Class with Pastor Schaper and how we had to participate in
questioning exercises the week before Confirmation. Each student
had to answer three questions. We didn't know which ones we were
going to be called upon to answer, so we had best be prepared and know
our stuff.

This was the first school I ever
attended where I truly felt loved. St. John changed my life and
continues to be an inspiration to me everyday. Now I enjoy being an
aid to children at this school and my children love attending here.
There was and still is a real community at this church and school.
Some names and faces have changed, but the bond we all share is
the same in Christ. |
