MORNING ARRIVAL:

Because of supervision issues, all students arriving before 7:40 AM must report or be taken to early care in the 8th grade classroom.  (Those arriving after 7:35 AM are not charged for this supervision). Students are not to be at the classrooms until the teacher is there. Teacher morning devotion and meeting time runs from 7:20 AM to 7:40 AM. Parents, we need your help with this.

MORNING DROP OFF/AFTER SCHOOL DISMISSAL:

For the safety of our students, please drop off at the west end ONLY and pick up at the west & east end doors (S1) ONLYALL TEACHERS are responsible for a specific area of afternoon dismissal. They must be at these locations between 2:55 PM and 3:15 PM.  Please understand if they cannot talk with you between those times. Teachers are available after 3:15 PM. Thanks for your help and cooperation in this matter.

LUNCH ANYONE?

Our lunch procedures are going well and the students enjoy having a daily choice of hot or cold entrée and other items on the tray. Remember that students can get all of the additional items listed with either of the two entrees. Check (and print) the menu from the “Cafeteria” link on Fast Direct or check your St. John App.

WEB PHOTO PERMISSION:

From time to time we publish school pictures on our website.  No names are used on these photos.  If you would prefer that your child's photo not be published please contact Lori Reno Howard at

FAST DIRECT ACCESS:

Fast Direct is our school/home communication system. All grade levels (PS-8) have access to this system. If you have not yet logged in, please remember to email Lori Reno Howard at for your activation code.

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION:

Please download our new app to receive emergency notifications or important messages regarding our school.  The school app is available for iPhone and Android users. Downloading is simple! You can download here or go to the App/Google Play store and search St. John Lutheran. When you open the app, you’ll see the St. John Lutheran Church screen. To switch to the school, simply click on the school icon on your screen.

MARION COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT IFORMATION:

PARENTS, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ILL or absent for any reason.

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION:

If you have not returned the new, updated Emergency Contact Information sheet and need to, there are copies in the office. It is only necessary if your information has changed or you are a new family.

WELLNESS POLICY:

St John annually reviews and updates its School Wellness Policy, which includes guidelines for nutrition, as well as goals for nutrition education and physical education.

TARDINESS:

All students (K-8) arriving after classes begin at 8:00 AM, regardless of the reason, must report to the office before going to class. These students will be given a slip, which will admit them to class after devotions have concluded and if there is a break in the Christian Education lesson. Tardiness is considered “excessive” if it happens more than 5 times in one semester and will be entered on the student’s permanent record as such.

PARKING:

Since much of our parking lot is used during recess times, DO NOT PARK BEHIND THE BUILDING BY THE KITCHEN DOOR.  Because of the basketball courts, it is not advisable to park closer to the baskets than the west entry doors.  When lining up to drop off students in the morning, please stay in the drive lane and away from parking spaces at the west end of the parking lot.  This will allow access to those parking spaces when the rest of the lot is full. There is a map available in the office.

SMALL GROUP CLASS:

Starting Sunday, September 10th you will have the opportunity to intentionally be in God’s Word and to intentionally be in fellowship with one another. St John Lutheran Church is beginning a 12 week Small Group Ministry based on the book, Christ Have Mercy. Through this study, we will learn of the innumerable opportunities we have to show mercy to fellow Christians and to anyone God places in our path. Starting August 20th, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a Small Group online or in the School Office that will hopefully fit your needs in regards to time, day, and location. If you have any questions regarding this ministry opportunity or on how to get involved, please contact Director of Outreach and Assimilation, Paul Johnson at 317-352-9196 or at
