We thank you for your patience with the Eclipse changes. The kids had a great time checking the progress of the eclipse throughout the day. It was fun to watch and listen to the students as they were viewing the eclipse. There were lots of “ooohs and ahhhhs” and one 1st grader said, “It looks like someone took a big bite out of it.” Thank you to all of the volunteers that came to help make it a safe and positive environment for our students.

This year’s offerings will be designated to a variety of ministries. Students in each class will be encouraged by their teacher to recommend, study, and propose ministries to receive these funds. Please help us teach our students the principles of good stewardship and the joy of giving by talking with them about their offering for each Wednesday morning Chapel. Don’t forget, parents are welcome every Wednesday morning to join us.

Join us this Tuesday as the St. John Eagles Soccer and Volleyball teams play our 1st home game against the Rams of Our Shepherd. Soccer game and the 5th and 6th grade (JV) Volleyball game starts at 5 pm. The Varsity volleyball game begins after the JV game. St. John students get in free. Adults are $3, other students (1st-12th) $2 with a Family Max of $7. Come cheer your Eagles on!

Just a reminder that we will be serving Ice Cream this Friday. If you do not want your child to participate in Ice Cream Fridays, please contact Lori Reno Howard via Fast Direct or email her at

Did you know there are many ways you can support St John School without giving up any of your time? If you are a Kroger shopper, you can link your PLUS card to St John School ID #10098 so that the school receives a percentage of your spending.

You can also purchase cards for stores/restaurants/gas stations at places where you already spend your money. Look for information about purchasing SCRIP cards to be coming home soon. A percentage of those sales will also benefit the school. Scrip is "fundraising while you shop." You can create a family account by going to Use our school code F24EF13E2223 and begin shopping through many different vendors for a variety of products. A percentage of your purchase will be given back to St. John. Questions? Contact: Paul Johnson at 317-352-9196 or

Because of supervision issues, all students arriving before 7:40 AM must report or be taken to early care in the 8th grade classroom.  (Those arriving after 7:35 AM are not charged for this supervision). Students are not to be at the classrooms until the teacher is there. Teacher morning devotion and meeting time runs from 7:20 AM to 7:40 AM. Parents, we need your help with this.

For the safety of our students, please drop off at the west end ONLY and pick up at the west & east end doors (S1) ONLY. This excludes afternoon PK.

We are looking to make the after school dismissal process easier for the teachers to identify you. In the next week or two, we are planning to issue official placards with the student’s last name. The advantage is that you can display the placard as you drive up so the teachers can easily see which students to call to which car. We will have more info available in the next week.

Starting Sunday, September 10th you will have the opportunity to intentionally be in God’s Word and to intentionally be in fellowship with one another. St John Lutheran Church is beginning a 12 week Small Group Ministry based on the book, Christ Have Mercy. Through this study, we will learn of the innumerable opportunities we have to show mercy to fellow Christians and to anyone God places in our path. You may sign up for a Small Group online or in the School Office that will hopefully fit your needs in regards to time, day, and location. If you have any questions regarding this ministry opportunity or on how to get involved, please contact Director of Outreach and Assimilation, Paul Johnson at 317-352-9196 or at
