SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT THIS WEEK

This week, we join Lutheran schools across the country to celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week. This ministry of Christian education reaches close to 250,000 children in Lutheran elementary schools, high schools, early childhood centers, and day care ministries. St. John Lutheran Church and School has offered Christian school education for 160 years, and we praise God for all of the children and families that have been blessed in our classrooms.

Please join us in thanking St. John for being open to God’s call for this long-term ministry, and also join us in thanking the members of St John, who have supported this important work for many years. May God grant us many more years with His children.

SCHOOL NEWS

WE’RE CELEBRATING NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK

along with 250,000 students in over 2000 Lutheran Schools and Early Childhood Centers around the world January 23rd through the 27th. We will also join thousands of others as we participate in an online mission trip to Madagascar sponsored by Lutheran Hour Ministries. Through just these two activities, there will be many ways to recognize and celebrate the blessings we have as followers of Jesus Christ and members of a Lutheran school community. May God bless us during this special week, and may His Holy Spirit ignite in us a desire to share the light of Jesus with a world in need of His grace and peace.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR TEACHERS

LUFEST 2017

is quickly approaching. Tickets are on sale now for March 17, 2017. LuFest is a dinner auction that is held by Lutheran High School. It is a fun evening to gather with the community and help raise money to support the Lutheran High School and its ministry. St. John School is going to donate a camping basket this year. Ideas for the basket include tents, grills, coolers, camping chairs, lanterns, fishing poles, etc. Gift cards are also welcome. Buy from Scripts and help support St. John, as well. You can donate individually or come together as a group to donate a larger item. We can make a great basket if everyone participates. Please bring in donations by Friday, February 17th. Please contact Beth Knight at with any questions. Thank you.

CHURCH QUILT DRIVE

The quilting group from our church has applied for a Thrivent Action Team Grant to help fund the quilts that they make and donate to Lutheran World Relief. If you have any washed or clean sheets, fabric, blankets, or mattress pads that you no longer use, please consider sending them to school. There is a collection bin in the church office waiting area, and once a week on Wednesday through March 15th the donations will be collected. Please label your donations with a name and grade so Julaine Bolden can give you your Thrivent t-shirt for helping! If you have any questions, please call Phyllis Fleischer at 317-902-3133; or Julaine Bolden at 317-514-8708.
