SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT THIS WEEK
How would you define “peace”? An absence of noise? A tranquil forest scene? Someone’s calming hand on yours? I think everyone defines peace differently.
As a fruit of the Spirit, I believe it is a feeling in the heart. I have always been partial to the description that Paul uses in his letter to the Philippians, “…. the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” (4:7). It cannot be explained. It is just peace. This is the type of peace that only God can give as we come to know Him through His Son Jesus. It is this peace that we pray others will see in us as we live our lives in service to our Lord.
ST. JOHN WELCOMES COLTS CAMP
The students in grades 2-5 will participate (weather permitting) in a Colts Big Blue Sports Camp this Thursday. The event, coordinated by Colts staff, features a number of physical activities for the kids. We appreciate the Indianapolis Colts making this possible for us.
will be taken Wednesday, Sept 28. Please refer to the order form that will be sent home with students next week. All students will be photographed for the school yearbook and identification purposes whether pictures are purchased or not. All portrait orders must be PREPAID using the envelope that will be provided. Make checks payable to Inter-State Studio. NOTE – The school dress code is relaxed that day. However, since they do not appear in the photos, jeans are still not allowed.
WELCOME MR. JASEPH
St. John Lutheran Church and School is excited to welcome Philip Jaseph as our new Communications Director. Philip is a graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. He comes to us from The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as a Communication Specialist for the Africa region, based in Kenya. Phil is engaged and plans to marry Rachel Powell in November. Rachel currently serves a call to the Dominican Republic from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod's Office of International Mission as a Deaconess. Phil said, "I look forward to a new season of life in Indianapolis. Though I cannot anticipate them, I am excited for the many ways we will be able to partner together and make use of the opportunities God places before us. As a congregation, I am excited for all that God will do through St. John, His Church, and through us."
Schedules for when the children choirs (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) sing during our worship services can be found on the calendars available on the web site (“Events”). You can see a month at a time by clicking the dropdown called “View As.” They will also show up on the app under “School”, then “Events”, then “Special Events”.
