Monkeys – Two’s
This age group is active. They bring their own insight and flair to coloring, painting or in using paste. There are currently two classes of this age group. Colors are a challenge for this age; recognition of the color with saying the color name. Play games that focus on identifying colors. Name the colors of God’s world.
Frogs – Young Three’s
It is fun to be able to write your own name! Besides practicing writing names, there is work on sight recognition of not only their own name, but also the names of the teachers and friends. Work begins on the proper use of upper case and lower case letters in name writing. Alphabet recognition and beginning phonics (letter sounds) begins at this stage.
Turtle-Fish
This group consists of three and four year olds. There is a focus on school preparation. Not only academically, but also, socially. Attention is given to following directions, sharing, self-control, and working together in a group activity. Focus is upon strengthening writing their names without help, sight recognition and writing numbers and letters.
Lions and Penguins
This group has a flourishing ability to recognize letters and their sounds. Attention is given to reading stories outloud, developing listening skills, imagination and creativity. Individual time for story reading provides the opportunity for enhanced reading skills and phonics. These activities assist in the development school readiness.
