Is everyone welcome?

 Yes! St. John Lutheran is not a church created by social or financial status, age, marital status or position. We are a group of people united by our need to receive God's mercy in Jesus.

What do you believe and teach?

We believe the Bible is God's Word and we believe the message it shares. The Bible is a book meant to help us to be able to see Jesus as our Savior. Through the Bible God's Spirit works faith in our hearts. You can expect sermons and teaching to be aimed at sharing God's Word with you. Learn more on what we believe.

 

What should I wear?

When you come to one of our services, you will find people dressed in a wide variety of styles from as casual as jeans or shorts to a number dressed more formally. Most people find themselves somewhere in the middle, just be sure to dress so that you will be comfortable and able to get the greatest possible impact from our service.

 

Will I be expected to introduce myself to people?

We respect that God created personalities He put in each one of us and know people have different social comfort levels. We provide opportunities to meet others around coffee and donuts, during Bible study and a greeting at the beginning of worship.

 

What's available for my children?

During our worship services, we believe children belong with their families. For infants through three year olds, we do offer a nursery for the 9:30 a.m. Sunday school, 10:25 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday services.

Are there Sunday School or Bible Study? 

We offer both Sunday School classes and Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. for ages three to adults.

 

Why do the pastors wear robes?

While wearing robes might seem a little odd at first, the idea is to take the clothes of the pastor out of the equation so you are not sitting there thinking about his hideous tie suit combination.  The robe is white, reminding us it is only by God's grace that any of us can share the Word of God.  The stole (the colored cloth over his shoulders) reminds us of the call of the pastor into the office in which He serves.

If there is Communion the first time I worship at St. John is it OK for me to attend?

Based on Jesus' words when he gave us the meal we believe that Communion is not a mere symbol but the gift of Jesus' body and blood for our forgiveness and life.  Based on the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11, we also believe it is necessary for every person to be fully instructed about the meal before attending.  That's why we ask that you  speak with a pastor before approaching the Lord's table.

How do I get my kids connected to Childcare, Preschool/School or Youth Group activities?   

Just contact the office by phone or  and one of our staff will contact you to help get you connected.

Are there opportunities for me to serve with others?  I would like to make a difference.

Opportunities abound for service.  We beleive very much in speaking with people about where their gifts lie and what their passions are.  If you are willing, we can plug you into lots of things to do both inside and outside our congregation.
