One of the challenges for the first disciples was to understand how Jesus, a mere man standing in the flesh could really be the "promsied one" in whom they could entrust their lives. We find great comfort in the fact that the Lord who saves us is the Son of Man, who lives in our flesh and intimately knows us in our fleshly lives. God became human and in that mystery we find the intimate companionship of a loving Savior.
