School News: August 13, 2019

DROP OFF PROCEDURES CLARIFICATION


Students need to be prepared to start the school day no later than 8:00 AM. We need parents help to make this happen. Please refrain from walking your child(ren) to class unless they are in PK-3 or PK-4, if it is AFTER 8 AM. Parents are welcomed to walk your child into the building before 8 AM. If you are in the building after 8:00 AM, you will need to sign in at the office window and fill out a visitor pass. Thank you for your cooperation!

MORNING DROP OFF/AFTER SCHOOL DISMISSAL:

For the safety of our students, please drop off at the west end ONLY and pick up at the west & east end doors ONLY.

ALL TEACHERS are responsible for a specific area of afternoon dismissal. They must be at these locations between 2:55 PM and 3:15 PM.  Please understand if they cannot talk with you between those times. Teachers are available after 3:15 PM. Thanks for your help and cooperation in this matter.
 

FREE AND REDUCED PRICE LUNCHES:

The 2019-20 forms are available outside the school office. Please note - applications must be submitted every year and returned to the office by August 23rd. Attn: John March.

WEB PHOTO PERMISSION:

Your child may be photographed for inclusion in school publications which includes, but not limited to: school yearbook, website, social media, and newsletters. Parents not wishing photographs to be taken and used for school purposes need to write a letter to the school stating your wish to not have your child photographed. The letter needs to be signed and dated. You do not need to give a reason. This letter needs to be sent annually by August 31st.

FAST DIRECT ACCESS:

Fast Direct is our school/home communication system. All grade levels (PS-8) have access to this system. You should have received an email with your screen name and password. If not, you may email Lori at .
 

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION:

Please download our app to receive emergency notifications or important messages regarding our school.  The school app is available for iPhone and Android users. Downloading is simple! You can download here or go to the App/Google Play store and search St. John Lutheran. When you open the app, you’ll see the St. John Lutheran Church screen. To switch to the school, simply click on the school icon on your screen.


MARION COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

Parents, please call the office when your child is ill or absent for any reason by 9:00 am.
 

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION:

If you have not returned the new, updated Emergency Contact Information sheet and need to, there are copies in the hallway outside the office. It is only necessary if your information has changed or you are a new family.


SPIRIT WEAR: 


We are offering new “Be Joy:fully Always” logo wear. You may order navy blue or white short sleeve, long sleeve, crew neck sweatshirts, or hoodies. To place your order by August 23rd, please click here.  All of these shirts are acceptable for Spirit Wear on Fridays.
 

PTL NEWS:


The PTL is a great opportunity to work with other parents and our teachers to support our students, staff, and school. If you are interested in learning more about the PTL Program, you may email our PTL representatives, Billie Barger and Lindsey Chapman at All are welcome to join us this Thursday, August 15th at 7 pm for a PTL meeting.


BOX TOPS:


Box Tops is changing their program! You will now be able to buy products and scan your receipt to earn money for our school and bring in the clipped paper ones till they expire. A box will either have the paper clipped ones or you scan the receipt. If you would rather not get the app you can bring your receipt to the office and have them put it in the PTL box and we will scan it in. We have a goal of raising $1000.00 the entire year! Each quarter we are looking to raise $250.00 and when that goal is reached the entire school will win a prize. Start scanning your receipts and turn your clipped box tops to your teachers! Friday Oct 4th will be the end of the first turn in.
 

MOVIE NIGHT:

Mark your calendars for a Back To School Movie Night Event, Friday Aug. 23rd. Starting at 6:00 pm, we will have a double feature. The movies will be announced next week. There is free admission for all, and there will be a concession stand available with items to purchase.
