School News: September 26, 2017


Almost all families have now received their placards to be used for identifying the designated person to pick up your children at 3 PM after school. Please use these whether you drive up or walk up. This will prevent delays as you are quickly identified. If you still do not have placards, or need more, please send Mr. Willig a Fast Direct. Thank you for your help.



Don't Forget to order your “It’s All About Jesus” shirt. The cost for these shirts are $5 for short sleeve and $10 for long sleeve. You may send exact cash or a check made out to St. John and return the order form into the office, or pay online here. All orders are due back by Friday, September 29th.


Thank you to all that have contributed to the Amigos Center Hurricane Relief Fund. To date, we have raised over $300. As a school community, our goal is to move the Barometer, found in the hall, to a 5. Each number represents $100. Let’s show the residents of Southern Florida that “It’s Still All About Jesus.” To learn more about the Amigos Center, click here.


Conferences for Pre-School through Grade 4 are scheduled for after school on Wed., Oct. 11 and Thurs., Oct. 12. Students will bring home a sign-up sheet today. These request forms must be returned to the classroom teacher.
NOTE: P/T conferences for students in grades 5-8 are being handled differently this year. Instead of the traditional Parent-teacher conferences that will be used in our lower grades, grades 5-8 have transitioned to a different system. The system in place now allows teachers to request a conference with any student/parent at any time. These conferences can be utilized to discuss: spiritual life; exemplary performance; and may also include opportunities for improvement in spiritual, educational, behavioral or emotional areas. We know that we often speak to you at back-to-school events, at drop off or pick up, or via Fast Direct. We will continue to touch base if there is an issue that needs to be dealt with in a time-sensitive or serious manner.


Did you know we provide snacks and a meal for our teachers during conference evenings? This is a simple one-time event for you to help out. If you can provide a snack or help with the meal, please sign-up here.



Our St. John Eagles Volleyball and Soccer teams will take on the Zion Warriors at home on Tuesday at 5 PM. The Volleyball teams will travel to Holy Cross on Thursday to battle The Blaze starting at 5 PM. The Varsity Volleyball will compete in a tournament at Trinity this weekend. Come cheer them on. Congratulations to our Varsity Volleyball team on their acceptance into the State Volleyball Tournament next weekend. Once we have the schedule, we will let everyone know when and where they can come cheer on our Lady Eagles!

Mark your “Kalendar” for Oct. 1 as we celebrate the 165thanniversary of St. John and the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.  We will have an authentic German Menu and homemade desserts for our picnic lunch. There will be Special German heritage music, bounce house, corn hole, Adult Tricycles, and much more for an afternoon of fellowship and fun. Tickets for adult beverages will be available at the door.  Register here to join us from 12:00-2:00 PM. (after the combined worship service at 10:30) in the school gymnasium and playground area.



Vision screenings for grades 1, 3, 5 & 8 as well as hearing screenings for grades 1, 4 & 7 will be conducted by the Marion County Health Department on Thursday, Oct. 12th and Friday, Oct. 13th.

All students will sing in choir this Sunday. If you are attending the 8:00 service, please meet at 7:45 in the Music Room. If you are attending the 10:30 service, please meet in the Sanctuary at 10:15. JUNIOR CHOIR will sing at both services.
